When to Get an Associate
Affordable Management and Consulting for Chiropractors — Today I want to start with a question I ask many doctors and get similar responses. “Doctor, describe your perfect practice to me.” Well I work less and earn more by having an associate!
This is a possible reality but it will not happen in the way you think it will. The fact is you will have to work harder than ever before, and then you can work less and earn more with an associate.
Most doctors dont think about the steps it will take they just want a break or are feeling burnt out and want someone to HELP them out. I have often heard from doctors that have gotten associates with the mindset as, “I paid them alot of money and they ran my practice into the ground.”
Let me set some ground rules:
First you must have a stable and reproducable system in place to teach the associate.
Second Get an associate for the right reasons unselfish first ie leaving a legacy, uplifting the profession. Then selfish reasons ie time off and increased income.
Third Learn from others that have been there and done that so you dont have to repeat their mistakes, It will save you time and money in the long run.
Fourth look in the mirror and decide am I worth duplicating or do I need to clean up my protocol and procedures, leadership qualities, or character flaws.
To end, don’t just dream about your perfect practice. Start by setting a goal with deadlines. We recommend at least a year to prepare and find the right associate. Then taking action steps, the lessons you will learn along the road will help you to be who you want to be. It’s like this, imagine practicing with-out the associate, and now with it, was it worth the cost?
